There was a great turnout at St. Thomas Aquinas College on Saturday, March 26, as Wonder Girls hosted their first annual “Put Your Best Foot Forward” career expo. Founded in December 2020, Wonder Girls is an after-school program for middle and high school girls with a mission to build confidence, leadership, community, and the necessary business skills to succeed no matter what educational or career path they may choose.

So what exactly is their vision? Cofounders of Wonder Girls, Irene Zervoudis and Natalie Maniscalco, believe that every young woman deserves the opportunity to thrive as a leader of their own life despite economic, social, or educational challenges. They both strive to make a positive impact on the lives of their Wonder Girls. ““Our 1st Career Expo in partnership with St. Thomas Aquinas College was a success! We had a wonderful lineup of over 20 professional speakers from all different industries and workshops that focused on providing professional development skills from branding, building resumes and dressing for success,” said Maniscalco.

She continued “The students were inspired, motivated and learned so much from each of the speakers. They also got to network with each one during one-on-one and small group chats.  It’s so important to give students the opportunity to explore their passions and interests at an early age. Wonder Girls is all about lifting each other up and we do that by bringing women from all different cultures into our workshops so that we can guide and support young girls in being the best versions of themselves and learning at a young age, so that supporting each other can really make a difference.”

The free event provided a series of workshops that lasted from 12:00pm-4:00pm. Professional speaker, Patricia Stark, also attended the expo, and presented the importance of public speaking and maintaining professionalism. The Cupcake Carriage also made their appearance by providing delicious sweets for the program .

Wonder Girls was just featured on NBC LX in a national TV broadcast feature segment, which highlighted their uplifting work and all the incredible women who are making a difference in their communities. The Wonder Girls program is currently available for middle and high school girls in the suburbs of New York and New Jersey.
