Universal Music signs psy-trance deejay Astro D

Dimitris Bletsas, also known as pioneering psy-trance deejay Astro D, has been signed by major label Universal Music Group. The Greek deejay has a global following and is a favorite of the New York psy-trance scene.

Astro – D, who also performs under the names Skyway and Dim Day, has several full length albums and many more singles and EPs to his credit. Earlier this year his remix of Chris Oblivion’s  “The Overlords Sundown” released by Universal Music Group went to number 1 at Juno’s Top 100 Psytrance for three weeks straight.

Like any good purveyor of electronic music, Bletsas trots the globe, performing across the four corners of the world in any given year. In May of 2019 he headlined the Into the Wild Festival attended by a few hundred souls in the Catskill Mountains of New York before flying to the massive Ozora Festival in California. In the coming months he will headline events in Athens, Greece, Lisbon, Portugal and Stockholm, Sweden. He is planning a tour with Goa trance legend Psychaos in May 2020. 

Bletsas got his start deejaying in Athens way back in the early 90s, spinning techno and breaks in several famous clubs. In 2013 he released his first EP “Separate Reality” on Ovnimoon Records reaching number 17 on Beatport’s Top 100 Psytrance chart. Also in 2013 comes his second EP “Forestphonic” and single “Step Beyond” received support from well-known UK  based DJ  Lisa Lashes  also was included in her top 10 Beatport charts.

In 2014 his release on  Pharmacy Music  was supported by Paul Van Dyk & Christopher Lawrence. Another one remix for lost language was the epic “Into The Dawn” by  Accadia  that was included in the Top 20 for 2016 at  Trance Magazine  &  vandsunete.wordpress.com

His first number 1 hit came the next year with his remix of a classic trance track on  Andy Ling  “Fixation” (Hooj Choons). That also reached number 55 in the UK Singles Chart in 2000 and was released by Lost Language (X-Hooj Choons). This massive track reached number 1 on Trance and Psytrance genres charts of Beatport. His remix of the top hit  “Errorhead” by  Hux Flux  (Spiral Trax) & was featured as number 1 at Beatport’s “Must-Hear Psytrance.”

Astro D’s “Party Alien” album reached number 1 at juno Top 100 albums for two weeks & with his collab with Etnica hit also number 1 at TOP 100 Tracks and number 3 at top cds on Psyshop.

In his nonstop touring  Astro – D  has played alongside acts such as Laughing Buddha, Max Etnica, Hux Flux, Spirit Architect & and so many more.

Some festivals he has played in recent years include in 2012 the Aurora Festival, I Love You Fest and Underground Noise; in 2013 the Dance Xperience Festival and 41Mountain Gathering; in 2016 the Tour de Mars in Amsterdam; in 2017 the Tree of Life Festival, Genesis Festival and Samsara Festival in Hungary; in 2018 he went on three separate tours in the United States and in 2019 performed at Ozora Festival in California.
