Abandoned luggage attracts attention from bomb squad

NEW CITY, NY – Authorities say a suspicious package that brought out the Rockland County Sheriff’s bomb squad to New Hempstead Road in New City turned out to be a person’s luggage.

Pete Walker of the Clarkstown Police Department said that on Monday authorities were called regarding a suspicious package that was left in the bus terminal for an extended period of time.

Bomb technicians were called to the scene to investigate the contents within the package, which was later determined not to be a threat. On scene were the Clarkstown Police Department and the Rockland County Sheriff’s Office.

No arrests or damages were reported from the incident.
