Letter to the Editor: Robocalls are a nuisance

RE: Ombudsman Alert’s August 16 article – Reader says robocalls are a nuisance

To the Editor,

I get at least two Robo calls a day on my landline at home. Thursday’s are worse. Besides the usual robocalls, I get several calls from Monsey, Williamsburg and Monroe area. They are in Yiddish. Most I don’t understand, but several will use English to push raffle tickets, so called emergencies asking for money and occasionally about a sale at the town square shopping center on RT59 in Monsey or elsewhere.

When they give a number to call about purchasing tickets or to send money, I can get an idea where the call is coming from. As I don’t have caller ID on my home phone I can’t always get the caller’s number. It is so bad that if I am not expecting a call I don’t answer the phone. Something has to be done about these calls.

Sincerely,

Fred Finkelberg
