Sunday night robbery reported in Ramapo

On February 25 at about 10:10 p.m. Town of Ramapo police officers received a report of an attempted robbery that had just occurred on Concord Dr. in Monsey.

Upon their arrival, officers spoke with the victim who stated that he was walking on the street when he was approached by two males one of whom demanded that the victim empty his pockets and give his property to the suspects. The victim began to yell for help at which point the suspects fled the scene on foot.

A short while later, a Ramapo Police officer located the two suspects walking on Cedar Lane in Monsey. The two suspects were stopped and arrested.

The suspects are:

  • Johao Palma-Mazariegos (age-17) of Spring Valley.
  • Yashuan Vasquez (age-18) of Monsey.

Both suspects were charged with:

Attempted Robbery in the Second Degree   (Class C Felony)

Menacing in the Second Degree   (Class A Misdemeanor)

Both suspects are currently being held in the Ramapo PD lock-up pending arraignment in the Town of Ramapo Justice Court. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have any information pertaining to this incident is asked to contact the Town of Ramapo Police at 845-357-2400.
