ROCKLAND YOUTH ORCHESTRA ANNOUNCES SEASON 9

Rockland Youth Orchestra (RYO) has announced two new groups for its ninth season.
Literature to be explored during season nine with RYO Appassionata includes “Allegro in D Major” by Vivaldi/Frackenpohl, “Rainy Days” by Yukiko Nishimura, “MacPherson’s Lament” by Marshall/Dean, and “Symphony # 1 in D Major – Second Movement” – by Mahler/Dackow.
Literature to be explored during season nine with RYO Con Fuoco includes “Hungarian Dance # 5” by Brahms/Isaac, “Perseus” by Soon Hee Newbold, and “Danzas de Panama” by William Grant Still.
Students in grades five through 12 with New York State School Music Association solo levels of III and IV and scores of 24 through 28 are highly recommended to join RYO Appassionata, and students in grades nine through 12 with New York State School Music Association solo levels of V and VI and scores of 96 through 100 are highly recommended to join RYO Con Fuoco.
Rehearsals will take place on selected Wednesday evenings from from 7 – 8:30 p.m. between March 17 and May 16 in 2018 at Highview Elementary School on 24 Highview Avenue in Nanuet. The season nine concert date will be announced at a future date.
The co-directors of Rockland Youth Orchestra are Alex Fung of the Nanuet Union Free School District, and Dr. Matthew Rotjan of the South Orangetown Central School District. Tuition for season nine with Rockland Youth Orchestra is $165. Sibling discounts are available.
