Stony Point Police arrested a 30-year old woman for a DWI after reportedly finding her asleep at the wheel in her vehicle stopped on Thiells Road.
According to police, the officer awoke the woman, Rebecca Fader, of Stony Point, NY, and when he instructed her to place her car in park, she took off and drove through a red light. Police said the officer returned to his car and attempted to initiate a traffic stop.
The vehicle continued for a half-mile and stopped on West Main St. After giving field sobriety tests, the officer found the woman to be intoxicated. She was processed at the Stony Point police station and submitted to a breathalyzer test, which police said displayed alcohol levels two times over the legal limit.
She was released later that morning with an appearance ticket to return to court on Feb. 1.
