STONY POINT-Xavier Urena, 34, listed by police as ‘currently homeless,’ was charged last week with burglary in the second degree, grand larceny in the fourth degree and criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth following a home burglary and possession of a controlled substance.
Stony Point detectives made the arrest shortly after receiving a report of a burglary at a residence on Bender Ct., which occurred around noon on December 20. A neighbor reported to police that two men in a vehicle were seen outside his neighbor’s house and seemed suspicious, prompting the neighbor to write down the pair’s license plate.
As it turned out, the car belonged to the neighbor who suffered the burglary, police said. Detectives put a BOLO (be on the lookout) alert on the car and its occupants and within a few hours located the defendant operating the car in the Village of Haverstraw, Stony Point PD said.
Upon being stopped, detectives said they found Urena in possession of proceeds from the Bender Court home, as well as cocaine. He was arrested, arraigned before Stony Point Justice Court and remanded to Rockland County Jail in lieu of $60,000 bail.
He is due back in court on January 3. Police continue their efforts to identify and arrest the second alleged perpetrator.
