New York Affordable Reliable Electricity Alliance [AREA] honored Rockland Business Association [RBA] President and CEO Al Samuels with the Chairman’s Award. Samuels is an advisory board member to New York AREA and the president and CEO of the RBA based in Pearl River.

The New York Senate Majority Leader John J. Flanagan presented Samuels the award at the Annual Member Reception at Tappan Hill Mansion in Tarrytown on November 15

More than 75 guests, including local officials and leaders of local business and labor, were present to hear Leader Flanagan’s remarks. The leader remarked on the diversity of the crowd and said how rare and great it was to see members from both sides of the aisle, business and labor leaders, and members of local organizations united to advocate for affordable, reliable electricity for all New Yorkers.

Samuels’ RBA is designed to educate, inform, and provide beneficial services to members and actively represent, promote and support the business community of Rockland County. Today, the RBA is considered the most regional of all similar associations in the Hudson Valley and is viewed as one of New York’s most influential public policy and economic development organizations.

“For the past several years, Al has been a staunch supporter of in-state energy and the continued operation of Indian Point,” said New York AREA Chairman Arthur “Jerry” Kremer. “His service as an advisory board member to New York AREA since its inception in 2003 and staunch support of in-state business makes him an excellent recipient of the Chairman’s Award.”

New York AREA also honored Thomas Carey, President of the AFL-CIO Westchester-Putnam County Central Labor Body.
