Nick Fotiu, the beloved New York Rangers fan favorite forward and Staten Island native, will host a viewing party at Dan Rooney’s Sports Bar at Empire City Casino this Friday, December 8, as the “Broadway Blueshirts” take on the Washington Capitals.

Fotiu will meet and greet fans, sign autographs and take photos beginning at 6:30 p.m. The first native New Yorker to play for the Rangers will watch the pivotal Eastern Conference Atlantic Division match up with faithful fans. Opening face off in Washington is set for 7 p.m.

Empire City has hosted a steady stream of New Yorkers’ favorite athletes in recent years. In 2017 stars including Yankees World Champion Tino Martinez, Giants Super Bowl champs Lawrence Taylor and Mark Bavaro, and Mets World Series pitcher Bobby Ojeda have hosted events.

Fotiu is a Broadway Blueshirts legend of 70s and 80s vintage, signing with his hometown Rangers in 1976, and endearing himself to fans in his role as an enforcer. He played with the Rangers until 1979, when he was claimed by the Hartford Whalers in the NHL Expansion Draft. Fotiu was traded back to the Rangers in 1980, and was with the team for five more seasons.

Dan Rooney’s features over 40 large screen TVs with upscale pub food and cold brews available for purchase. Along with food and drink specials, a Rangers trivia contest will be held, as well as giveaways, including two tickets to a Rangers game.

Empire City is providing round trip bus service from Madison Square Garden. Those interested should email [email protected] to reserve their spot.
