Ramapo High School Bomb Threat

On December 1 at approximately 10:30 a.m., Ramapo Police Department received a 911 call claiming there was a bomb at the Ramapo High School, located at 400 Viola Road, Spring Valley, NY. Ramapo Police Department, the Rockland County Sheriff’s Bomb Unit, Monsey Fire Department, Spring Hill Ambulance and Rockland Paramedics all responded to ensure the safety of the students and staff.

Ramapo Police Department conducted an investigation at the school, ‘pinged’ and located the phone that the call was made from, and arrested a student of the school, Glen Tyrese Edwards, 17, of Spring Valley. Edwards was charged with falsely reporting and incident in the second degree (an E-felony) and making a terroristic threat (a D-felony).

The Bomb Unit searched the school and reported they did not find a bomb. The Fire Department, medics and ambulance stood by as a precaution. The Ramapo High School staff were cooperative in assisting Ramapo Police Department in the investigation.

There were no reported injuries during this incident.
