Rockland County Executive Ed Day Signs Resolution to Expand Bus Service

PRESS RELEASE—Rockland County Executive Ed Day last week signed a resolution that will expand bus service to and from Westchester County on the weekends.

The resolution calls for the creation of Sunday bus service on the Tappan Zee Express that will take riders between Rockland and Westchester counties. Saturday service will also be expanded.

“We are pleased to offer Rockland residents another transportation option,” the County Executive said. “The lack of weekend service has been a hardship for many.”

The county is in the process of creating new bus schedules. The service is scheduled to start August 5.

The estimated $592,978 cost is being funded by the Metropolitan Transit Authority as part of the effort to close the value gap between what Rockland residents pay and what they receive in services.

The service will be added to the existing contract with Brega Transport Corp., which already operates the Tappan Zee Express.
