WEATHER THIS WEEK: Friday, 6/23 – Thursday, 6/29

Your weekly forecast by Zachary Jacomowitz

Hello, Rockland County! I hope that you have had a great week, and once again, congratulations to all of the Classes of 2017! How is the weather looking for the final week of June? Let’s get right to the forecast.

On Friday, clouds will increase over our area, but we should remain dry for the most part. The greatest chance of rain will be south of us, but I still would not rule out a shower during the later afternoon and evening hours. Highs on Friday will top out in the upper 70s to low 80s. Showers move in Friday night as lows dip to just 70°. For Saturday, expect mostly cloudy skies with the threat for a few showers, but the day should not be a wash-out.

Highs will top out near 80°. Sunday is looking mostly dry as well. There could be abundant cloud cover, but the threat for showers is very minimal at this time. Highs will be similar to Saturday, near 80°. One of the first July 4th celebrations in our area will be taking place Sunday night. The 2017 Ramapo Celebration of Liberty and Pride will commence at 5 p.m. at Rockland Community College, culminating with a fireworks display between 9:30 and 10 p.m. The weather should be a go for this event. With that in mind, cooler and dry air arrives in time to start the new workweek.

Highs on Monday will only be in the mid-70s and skies should be mostly sunny to partly cloudy, but a spot-shower cannot be ruled out, thought the chance is quite small. On Tuesday, expect partly to mostly cloudy skies with a stray shower. Highs will be in the mid to upper 70s. Warmer and more humid air arrives on Wednesday. Expect partly cloudy skies with highs in the low to mid-80s. Thursday will be quite warm as well, and humid. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80s along with partly cloudy skies. A cold front to our north will likely move towards the area to end the week.

With all of that said, I hope that you have had a great week, and I hope that next week is even better! To those graduating, may your futures be filled with success, health, and happiness! Congratulations!
