The first ever Paul Doctor Memorial 1K Flip Flop Fun Walk/Run to benefit Hi Tor Animal Shelter takes place this Sunday. Organizers are attempting to break the Guinness Book of World Record for people completing a 1K in flip flops (non-timed). The current world record is 845 people so a large crowd is needed
The fundraiser takes place Sunday, June 11, 2017 at Tappan Zee High School. Fun Run registration starts at 9 a.m. and the Fun Run starts at 11 a.m.
The registration fee will be $15 per student, $20 per adult, $50 for a family of four or $160 for a team of 10! To pre-register, go to http://hitorflipflop.com/product/register/. Registration packets and t-shirts can be picked up at TZ High School on the day of the event starting at 9 a.m.
The “family friendly” after party starts immediately after the run at Bailey’s Smokehouse with lots of tricky tray raffles, a live band, an outdoor tent and food/drink specials all day. This event is a celebration of the life of Paul Doctor, a beloved teacher from Cottage Lane Elementary who died unexpectedly in 2016. Mr. Doctor loved animals, especially his cherished cats, so his wife Patricia Cardenas knew Paul would want to do something “World Record” big to help out Hi Tor, Rockland’s only animal shelter.
