SPRING VALLEY DEMS ACCUSE RAMAPO COMMITTEE OF HIJACK

Spring Valley Democratic Committee Members Betty Carmand and Steven White called a press conference this week to alert the community of “an attempt by the Ramapo Democratic Committee to take over and control the Spring Valley Committee.”

Carmand and White said, “Committee members – appointed by the Ramapo Town Chair – illegally called a reorganization meeting of the Spring Valley Democratic Committee and attempted to appoint an executive committee and change the bylaws.

“Duly elected committee members were not notified before the meeting. Bylaws require five days notification, letters were postmarked Feb 16th for the Feb 20 meeting, and arrived after the meeting had already occurred. An objection has been filed with the Commissioner of the Rockland County Board of Elections.”

The situation remains in flux.
