DA ZUGIBE: SPRING VALLEY MAN CHARGED WITH FORGING COURT PAPERWORK FOR COMMUNITY SERVICE

daRockland County District Attorney Thomas P. Zugibe today announced the arrest of Sidney Lemoine, 37-years-old, of 61 Robert Pitt Drive, Spring Valley for allegedly submitting a phony document indicating that he had performed several hours of court-ordered community service as required for a previous court sentence.

According to the charges, the defendant filed the letter with the Clarkstown Justice Court confirming that he had completed the community service through a local nonprofit organization. It is alleged that the community service hours were never performed.

Lemoine is charged with:

• One count of criminal possession of a forged instrument in the second degree, a class “D” felony

“Community service is an important obligation for those sentenced to complete it,” said District Attorney Zugibe. “Faking it is a serious crime that often leads to criminal consequences and longer sentences.”

Lemoine was arrested by the detectives with the Rockland County District Attorney’s Office Special Investigation Unit. He was arraigned in Clarkstown Justice Court and scheduled to return to court on November 7, 2016.
