James M. Sanders, 29, of  Walnut Hill apartments in West Haverstraw and Garlain Francois, 22, of Kearsing Parkway in Spring Valley were both charged with attempted murder this week.

The arrests stem from an October 19, 2016 incident, where Town of Haverstraw officers responded to a report of an argument between subjects, at the intersection of Allison Ave and Broad Street in the Village of Haverstraw.

Upon arrival at the scene officers noticed spent shell casings in the street. Interviews were conducted by detectives at the scene and it was determined that two male subjects had been in an argument with another group at the location. One of the male subjects drew a handgun and fired several rounds at another subject who was standing in the group. No one struck by the bullets that were fired.

Sanders was taken into custody By Haverstraw PD without incident at his residence, arraigned in the Town of Haverstraw Justice Court and remanded to the Rockland County Jail.
