In 1616, the name “Haverstroo” made its first known appearance on a Dutch map. In 2016, the Historical Society of Rockland County and the Town of Haverstraw will present “400 Years of Haverstraw,” a self-guided Historic Homes & Landmarks Tour that will highlight many aspects of the town’s history.

The tour will take place on Saturday, October 15, 2016, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. and is sponsored by Beckerle Lumber Remodeling Showrooms. Proceeds from the tour benefit the Historical Society of Rockland County and the Town of Haverstraw Quadricentennial Committee. Tickets are $40 in advance ($45 on the day of the tour).

Organizers note that these tours do sell out, so prepaid reservations are strongly recommended and can be made at the Historical Society of Rockland County, 20 Zukor Road, New City, NY 10956, or online at http://2016HaverstrawHouseTour.brownpapertickets.com. On the day of the tour, some tickets will be available for purchase at Haverstraw Town Hall, One Rosman Road, Garnerville.

The “400 Years of Haverstraw” House Tour is being offered as part of the Town’s yearlong quadricentennial celebration.
