TOWN OF HAVERSTRAW

Memorial Ceremony, 7 p.m. at Haverstraw Town Hall. The Town of Haverstraw’s annual 9-11 Memorial Ceremony hosted by the Rockland County Marine Corps League is taking place this Thursday, September 8, 7 p.m. outside Haverstraw Town Hall. 

FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 9

ROCKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE

Commemoration Ceremony, 8 – 9 a.m. at Memorial Garden. Speakers include Rockland County Executive Ed Day, and RCC student veterans. RCC’s Memorial Garden includes sculpture (Spirit Rising) by Eric David Laxman, made with steel pulled from the ashes of the site of the World Trade Center. The Garden also includes benches and a beautiful inscription of the 9/11 poem (Out of the Blue) written by Dan Masterson, Poet Laureate of Rockland County. Young saplings nurtured from the famed 9/11 Survivor Tree are nearby. Many people have dedicated inscribed brick pavers for the Walkway to Success that surrounds the memorial. Donations and design of your three-line inscription can be arranged through the RCC Foundation, contact Don Cairns 845-574-4576.

TOWN OF RAMAPO

Sept. 11 Remembrance Ceremony,10 a.m. Ramapo Town Council Room, Ramapo Town Hall, 237 Route 59, Suffern.

SUNDAY, SEPTEMBER 11

COUNTY OF ROCKLAND

Rockland Sept. 11 Memorial Ceremony, 8:30 a.m. at Haverstraw Bay County Park, 21 Gagan Road, Haverstraw. County Executive Ed Day will lead the observance the 15th anniversary of the September 11thterrorist attacks during Rockland’s annual memorial service at Haverstraw Bay County Park. Prayer and song will pause for a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. At 9:03 a.m., the names of the 81 Rockland victims of the 2001 and 1993 World Trade Center attacks will be read by relatives. Members of the public are encouraged to attend.

VILLAGE OF NYACK

Commemorative Ceremony, 10 a.m., Main and Broadway, prior to Nyack’s 30th annual September street fair.

VILLAGE OF SUFFERN

Remembrance Ceremony, 2 p.m. at Donna Hallet Park, located on Lonergan Drive in Suffern. All veteran groups, scout groups and the public are invited to attend.  For further information, contact Cathy Mills at 845-357-7943 or [email protected].

TOWN OF ORANGETOWN

September 11 Memorial Ceremony, 2 p.m. on the ground of Town Hall. The ceremony, traditionally held at 6 p.m. to accommodate weekday work schedules, has been moved to 2:00 PM to give families, friends, and the community the opportunity to further commemorate in their own way the more than 70 women and men from Rockland County who lost their lives on that fateful day. Orangetown Town Hall is located at 26 Orangeburg Road, at the corner of Dutch Hill Road in Orangeburg, NY.

TOWN OF CLARKSTOWN

September 11 Memorial Ceremony, 6 p.m. on the grounds of Town Hall on Maple Avenue. Unveiling of Clarkstown’s new 9/11 monument and will take place in a newly designed memorial park with twin jets of water representing the World Trade Center’s towers.

TOWN OF STONY POINT

Candlelight Memorial Service, 7 p.m. at Stony Point Town Hall. Join with neighbors and town officials for a candlelight vigil in remembrance of those who lost their lives on September 11.

VILLAGE OF SLOATSBURG

The Village of Sloatsburg will hold a memorial service on Sunday, September 11, 2016.  This ceremony will be held at the community fields commencing at 7 p.m. The program will culminate with a candlelight procession around the complex. Mayor Carl Wright said, “This is a day for reflection, prayer, and remembrance.” The village also invites all residents to take part in a moment of silence at 8:46 a.m. at the exact time the first of the Twin Towers was struck.
