Join Rockland Conservation & Service Corps, their friends and supporters as they celebrate the accomplishments of the 2016 Conservation Corps from 1-4 p.m. on Thursday, August 11 at the County of Rockland Legislative Chambers, 11 New Hempstead Road, New City.

“These hard-working young people have made a lasting contribution to their community,” said Rockland County Executive Ed Day. “We thank them for their hard work and we congratulate them on their achievements.” Twenty-seven Conservation Corps Members will be featuring presentations that summarize their environmental projects and achievements accomplished at seven site placements throughout the Rockland region.
Projects have included: the maintenance and construction of walking and hiking trails, drainage and flooding mitigation on behalf of several municipalities, recycling initiatives and outreach with the Rockland County Solid Waste Management Authority, Hudson River Fish Advisory with Cornell Cooperative Extension, community development at the Village of Haverstraw, among many others.

Presentations involve demonstrations, videos and other creative projects that highlight the Conservation Corps’ summer of service to Rockland.

Presentations will begin at 1 p.m. and pause at 2 p.m. to feature guest speakers, including Conservation Corps alum James Ossman, Senior Manager, Global Operations for Etsy. Mr. Ossman’s remarks will include Etsy’s progressive corporate sustainability commitments and zero-waste strategy. Presentations will resume at the conclusion of the guest speakers, and continue until 4 p.m. The event is Open House style, so audience members are free to attend the event within any time frame they wish.
