Transgendered person victim of attack in Spring Valley

Eddy Perez-Zenteno, 31, of 52 South Madison Avenue, Spring Valley has been charged with attempted murder in the second degree and assault in the first degree for an alleged attack against a transgender male.

The Spring Valley Police Department (SVPD) responded to a report of stabbing on Monday, July 25,2016 at 5:43am. The location of the stabbing was a house at 3 East Church St. in the village.

Police report that the victim was a transgender male, age 25, who suffered multiple stab wounds to the chest and neck. SVPD responded to the scene along with the Rockland Paramedics and Spring Hill Ambulance. The victim was treated and trasported to Good Samaritan Hospital in Suffern, where he is still being treated.

SVPD patrol and detectives are being assisted in the investigation by the Rockland County Sheriff’s Department Bureau of Criminal ID Unit. Detectives developed a suspect in the case and an arrest was made at about 8 p.m. Monday evening.

Perez-Zenteno was arraigned Tuesday morning in Spring Valley Justice Court by the Honorable David Fried. He was remanded to county jail and bail was set in the amount of $100,000 bail.
