SENATOR LARKIN & ROCKLAND COMMUNITY COLLEGE ANNOUNCE $250,000 GRANT TO RENOVATE FIELDHOUSE

Senator Bill Larkin (R,C,I-39th District) will present a $250,000 check to Rockland Community College as part of an announcement that he has secured a $250,000 State and Municipal (SAM) funding grant to help make needed renovations and improvements to RCC’s Fieldhouse. The grant funding secured by Senator Larkin will go toward fully renovating the locker rooms to enhance the safety, functionality and aesthetics of the facility as well as adding additional restrooms and facilities for families.

The Fieldhouse is the emergency evacuation site for Rockland County residents in the case of a hazardous event and is included as the County’s emergency shelter facility in the mandated federal Homeland Security Emergency Support Functions (ESF) plan to provide shelter for residents, people with special needs, and pets. The Eugene Levy Fieldhouse is located on RCC’s Suffern campus. This two-acre, 90,000-square-foot facility is the largest of its type in the northeast. Constructed in 1975, the Eugene Levy Fieldhouse serves as a center for public and commercial events, as well as home to RCC’s Exercise & Human Performance Department and the RCC varsity teams.
