Senator David Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester) joined President/CEO of Nyack Hospital, Dr. Mark Geller M.D. and the hospital’s senior management at the open house and ribbon cutting ceremony for Nyack Hospital’s Prenatal Center thanks in part to a legislative grant secured for $100,000 by Senator Carlucci.

Nyack Hospital offers comprehensive prenatal and postpartum care to expectant women and teenagers. The funding allowed for the Nyack Hospital to completely revamp the waiting room to include new carpeting, a breastfeeding nook, an area where educational videos are shown and pamphlets are displayed to further educate new mothers, many of them where English is a second language.

These renovations are going to impact the patients at Nyack Hospital’s Prenatal Center. The overhaul of the patient waiting area was necessary to ensure that women who are pregnant receive the education they need to be the best mothers they can be.

“We greatly appreciate the grant money Senator Carlucci was able to secure for our Prenatal Center and it will help service the community at large,” said President/CEO of Nyack Hospital, Dr. Mark Geller M.D.

“The services provided through this grant will help the greater community here in Nyack and the surrounding towns and villages. My wife and I were able to take advantage of the programs offered through the hospital and now, more future mothers can enjoy those services as well, at no cost to them. This renovated waiting room will make the staffs’ jobs easier and make it a more pleasant and informative experience for everyone. More importantly, our women’s healthcare will take another leap in the right direction,” said Senator Carlucci (D-Rockland/Westchester).
