The best-selling book by Judith Guest was made into a movie, which claimed the 1980 Academy Award for Best Picture. “Ordinary People” is an American drama that focuses on the disintegration of an upper-middle class family in Lake Forest, Illinois, following the death of a son in a boating accident.

Set in 1980, the story deals with family conflict, survivor guilt, suicide and the healing power of therapy. Many have attributed the acceptance of family therapy by main stream Americans to this popular movie. Tickets are $17 each and may be purchased at SJR.BookTix.com or at the door one half hour before each performance. All seats are reserved. Both Saturday evening performances will be preceded by an optional dinner for an additional $20.

There is a Senior Citizen Preview Performance on Thursday, April 14 at 3 p.m. Admission for this performance is $5 per person at the door. The Inserra Theater is located in St. Joseph Regional HS, 40 Chestnut Ridge Rd, Montvale, NJ (one mile from the Rockland border).
