Lawrence Garvey, Chairman of the Rockland County Republican Committee on Thursday officially endorsed Donald J. Trump for president of the United States in the 2016 election.

Chairman Garvey stated, “The Republican Presidential Primary process has clearly established Trump as the frontrunner and based on the polling in the upcoming primaries, including New York, Trump will be the Republican Candidate on the Ballot in November. Trump is a hugely successful real estate developer, businessman and what we all believe to be the quintessential New Yorker. Trumps policy positions and election platform address the needs and concerns of all Americans and will lead Trump to Victory in November and to a better America in January 2017.”

Chairman Garvey further emphasized, “It is time for the Republican Party to unify behind one candidate and move on to the task of defeating Hillary Clinton. That one Candidate is Donald Trump.”

According to national media: the Manhattan billionaire boasted a 52-point advantage over Cruz in the Bloomberg survey. Trump won 64 percent of Empire State residents’ support while Cruz received 12 percent. Ohio Gov. John Kasich only received 1 percent of support in a March 14-16 poll that had a 5.6 percent margin of error.

Earlier in the election cycle prominent Rockland Republicans including County Executive Ed Day endorsed Marco Rubio’s candidacy. Rubio’s campaign sputtered in recent weeks, however, and he officially withdrew from the contest after being blown out by Trump in his home state of Florida on March 15.
