COUNTY EXECUTIVE DAY, RCC PRESIDENT WOOD CELEBRATE RIBBON CUTTING OF ROCKLAND COUNTY CAREER CENTER

County Executive Ed Day, joined by Rockland Community College President Dr. Cliff Wood and other local officials, this week cut the ribbon on the new Rockland County Career Center location in the Village of Haverstraw. Along with a second location on the Suffern campus of Rockland Community College, the Rockland County Career Center offers job search and career development services for residents.

“As a community, we can never lose sight of the fact that, for someone who is unemployed or underemployed, one is the only statistic that matters,” said County Executive Day. “That’s why we’ve partnered with RCC and Rockland BOCES to establish a one-stop employment and training resource center, offering free services.”

The Rockland County Career Center is a collaborative endeavor that brings together employers and job seekers, providing a comprehensive, all-in-one approach to career exploration, job training and employment searching. The Career Center recently assumed the employment services previously managed by Tomorrow’s Workplace.

Staffed with employment professionals from several private and public entities, including the New York State Department of Labor, the Career Center provides job seekers with the necessary tools for a self-directed or staff-assisted job search and provides employers with facilities, training and workforce support. Career Center services are provided free of charge.

Rockland Community College was selected through an RFP process to administer Workforce Investment Opportunity Act (WIOA) grant funds from the Labor Department. The Youth Services component is operated by Rockland BOCES. Adult services are overseen by the newly-formed Workforce Development Board of Rockland County.
