New show announced at New Gen Theatre

The New Generation Theatre, a Rockland County theatre company for young performers, is currently accepting registration for its 2016 summer theatre production of “In The Heights.”

Directed by Sol Bloch and Justin Boccitto, NGT strives to provide sophisticated musical productions for serious-minded students looking to further their singing, acting, and dancing skills.  The program is open to students in grades 8 through 12 and will run June 27 through August 6, Mondays to Wednesdays, from 6:30 – 10 p.m.; performances August 4, 5 and 6; auditions (to assign roles) June 25 and 26.

In The Heights won the 2008 Tony Award for Best Musical and was created by Lin-Manuel Miranda who is currently performing in his new Broadway musical, Hamilton. This summer marks NGT’s sixth year with past credits including: “The Who’s Tommy,” “Urinetown,” “Hairspray,” “Young Frankenstein” and the acclaimed production of “Les Miserables: School Edition.”

Theatre critic, Peter Filichia, said of the production “On a scale from zero to a hundred, I’d rank this production at 24,601.”
