N.J. man accused of choking woman during argument in Suffern

SUFFERN – A New Jersey man was charged with choking a his girlfriend in a Suffern home, according to Suffern police. Police said the 22-year-old Lyndhurst, N.J., man was accused of second-degree strangulation on Monday after an investigation of an incident in which he victim said she was choked to the point where she almost lost consciousness and could not breathe.
Police Chief Clarke Osborn said that victim told investigating officers that her boyfriend took her phone during an argument, then choked her and made threats against her. The New Jersey man was found, arrested and arraigned in Suffern Village Court, where he was ordered held in the Rockland County Correctional Facility in New City on $2,500 bail pending a hearing.
