Mets sweep NLCS, will appear in World Series next week

The New York Mets have swept the Chicago Cubs 4-0 and won the National League pennant for the first time since 2000.

They face either the Kansas City Royals or Toronto Blue Jays in the World Series next week.

Mets second baseman Daniel Murphy broke a major league postseason record by hitting a home run in six consecutive games. He hit .529 in the LCS and will certainly be named MVP.

The Mets outscored the Cubs 21-8 in the four game sweep.
