Four alleged thugs arrested in assault and theft of Spring Valley man: ONE CHARGED WITH MURDER

A 20-year-old Spring Valley man has been charged with murder for the alleged killing of Spring Valley resident Segundo Guallpa during an August 17 robbery in the village. Three associates of the primary defendant stand accused of charges such as robbery, assault and grand larceny in connection with the same crime. Police described the crime as a “gang assault.”

On September 2, Malik Baptist, age 20, of 11 Gesner Dr., was arrested and charged with murder in the second degree. On August 19, Baptist’s alleged associate Alfred Degraw III, 18, had been arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree assault, first and second-degree robbery, and first degree gang assault for an attack on Guallpa, who fell victim around 2 a.m. on August 17. Guallpa was found seriously injured at 41 Johnson Street and later died August 24 at Nyack Hospital.

His wallet containing a credit card was stolen during the robbery and was used fraudulently soon after the incident. On September 1, 2015 the Spring Valley Police Department arrested Jamarr Wilson, 20-years-old, of 48 Slinn Avenue, Spring Valley and Manuell Brown, 21-years-old, of 114 Williams Avenue, Spring Valley, for their alleged participation in the crime. Both were charged with criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, identity theft in the second degree, and grand larceny in the fourth degree. Wilson was additionally charged with tampering with physical evidence.

Both were arraigned in Spring Valley Justice Court before the Hon. Judge Simon and held on $100,000 cash bail.
