SUFFERN – The old quarry in Suffern if off limits – stay out! – Ramapo police warn.
On Tuesday afternoon, police say town officers cited nine people ranging in age from 15 to 23 for trespassing at the old quarry off Route 59. Four males and three females from New Jersey, and a female from Nyack, were arrested and taken to Ramapo Police Headquarters in Airmont. Eight were issued tickets and released pending a hearing, and the ninth, a 15-year-old girl, was turned over to her mother.
Police said “No Trespassing” signs are posted in various locations on the perimeter of the property. Police believe the group accessed the property via the wooded areas along the railroad tracks from various points along the perimeter.
