BASILE RESPONDS TO POTANOVIC’S SWIPES RE: TOWN’S STANCE ON SPECTRA

Statement from Councilman Tom Basile (R-Stony Point):

The town is working closely with Spectra’s engineers on the [new pipeline project]. While the Federal permit for this project gives the town limited jurisdiction, if residents believe that Spectra is in any way negotiating with them in bad faith or treating them unreasonably, they should contact the town immediately. Additionally, this is clearly a significant improvement of the infrastructure and investment on the part of the company. I am working with the Assessor’s Office to make sure that Spectra’s parcels are reassessed and that they pay their fair share of property taxes to relieve some of the burden on our homeowners.
