Two New Jersey men were arrested last week by Stony Point Police after they returned pilfered merchandise from an area pharmacy in exchange for store credit.

Nelson Curet, 26, of Union City and Basem Atshan, 31, of North Bergen, were caught after an internal investigation by the CVS in Garnerville determined they were stealing CVS property bins containing merchandise.

However, the scheme was not limited to Garnerville alone. The pair, who worked for Hudson News Distributors, stole items from other CVS locations in Stony Point and New City before going to Garnerville to return them for credit.

Police were notified and the defendants were subsequently found to be in possession of a “decoy bin” with $347.67 worth of merchandise. Both were charged with criminal possession of stolen property in addition to further charges in Clarkstown and are due in court on September 17.
