THRUWAY AUTHORITY ANNOUNCES OVERNIGHT CLOSURES OF I-87/I-287 EXIT 14 RAMPS TO AND FROM SOUTHBOUND THRUWAY ON THURSDAY, MAY 21


Ramp closures scheduled from 10 p.m. Thursday to 5 a.m. Friday as part of $16.2 Million Repaving Project

The New York State Thruway Authority today announced that overnight closures of exit 14 (Spring Valley – NYS Route 59) southbound on and off-ramps from I-87/I-287 and the on ramp from Old Nyack Turnpike will occur on Thursday, May 21, at 10:00 p.m. The ramps will reopen at 5:00 a.m. on Friday morning, May 22.

The work is part of a $16.2 million project to repave the highway and ramps and perform safety upgrades.

The ramp closures and detours are as follows:

·         I-87/I-287 exit 14 southbound off-ramp to NYS Route 59: Traffic will be detoured to exit 12 (West Nyack – NY Route 303 – Palisades Center Drive) and rerouted back onto the Thruway northbound to exit 14.

 

  • Old Nyack Turnpike to I-87/I-287 southbound: Traffic will be detoured to exit 14A (Garden State Parkway), then to the Schoolhouse Road – Chestnut Ridge exit, and returned to the Thruway southbound via the Garden State Parkway.

 

  • NYS Route 59 to I-87/I-287 southbound: Traffic will be detoured to exit 14A (Garden State Parkway), then to the Schoolhouse Road – Chestnut Ridge exit, and returned to the Thruway southbound via the Garden State Parkway.

 

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

 

The Thruway Authority will activate variable message signs (VMS) at exit 16 (Harriman – NY Route 17 & US Route 6) southbound as well as utilize highway advisory radio (HAR) 530 AM to advise motorists of the closures throughout the duration of work.
