ROCKLAND COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE POLICE DIVISION:

ARRIETA NORMAN MUGDWI
Norman Arrieta, age 36, residing in New York, NY, was arrested on May 14, 2015 on a warrant out of Rockland County Court for aggravated DWI. Rockland County Sheriff’s Department Detectives arrested the subject in Olmito, TX and extradited him back to Rockland County. The subject was lodged at Rockland County Jail awaiting arraignment in Rockland County Court.

UNLAWFUL POSSESSION OF MARIJUANA
Geoffrey Curry, age 28, residing in Nyack, NY, was arrested on May 15, 2015 for aggravated unlicensed operation of a vehicle and unlawful possession of marijuana. The subject was arrested on an outstanding bench warrant issued on May 7, 2015 by Ramapo Justice Court Judge Stein for failure to appear in family court. The subject was arraigned by the Honorable Judge Branti of the Haverstraw Justice Court and was remanded to the Rockland County Jail on $750 bail.

STONY POINT POLICE DEPARTMENT:

John P. Fay, age 36, residing at 9 First Street, Haverstraw, NY, was arrested on May 13, 2015, for driving while intoxicated. The defendant was arrested after a vehicle and traffic stop and subsequent investigation determined he was operating a motor vehicle while in an intoxicated condition. The defendant was arrested, processed and released on several traffic tickets returnable at the Stony Point Justice Court on June 16, 2015 at 1:30 p.m.

paganMENACING, CRIMINAL POSSESSION OF A WEAPON, HARASSMENT
Rafael Pagan, age 49, residing at 38 Hunter Place, Stony Point, NY, was arrested on May 17, 2015 for menacing in the second degree, criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree, criminal obstruction of breathing and harassment in the second degree. The defendant was arrested following an investigation into a domestic dispute. It is alleged the defendant threatened a family member with a knife in addition to choking said victim during a physical dispute. The defendant was arrested, processed, arraigned and remanded to the Rockland County Correctional Facility in lieu of 500 bail. The defendant is due back in the Stony Point Justice Court on May 21, 2015 at 1:30 p.m.

OFFICE OF THE SHERIFF, COUNTY OF ROCKLAND:

OPERATION “LOOK OVER YOUR SHOULDER”
Rockland County Sheriff Louis Falco III, today announced on May 13, 2015 a coordinated law enforcement operation to execute the many outstanding warrants issued by County, Town and Village Courts. The Sheriff’s Office will be partnering with the New York State Police and Town & Village Police Departments to enforce active arrest warrants. The effort has been dubbed “Operation Look Over Your Shoulder” and is set to commence in the near future. Law enforcement agencies are encouraging people who know they have outstanding warrants for failing to return to court, or failing to comply with conditions of their sentences or unpaid fines to surrender themselves to a law enforcement agency, or be prepared to get arrested. Sheriff Falco said the Sheriff’s Office alone has more than 600 active warrants and there are several thousand additional warrants active throughout the County.

TOWN OF RAMAPO POLICE DEPARTMENT:

FAILURE TO RESPOND TO FAMILY COURT
Michael Diblasi, age 29, residing in Monroe, NY, was arrested on May 11, 2015 on an outstanding family court warrant issued on August 21, 2014 by Rockland County Family Court Judge Eisenpress for failure to respond to family court for arrears in excess of $29,345, which is owed to the private petitioner. The subject was arraigned by the Honorable Judge Eisenpress of the Rockland Family Court and was released with a return date of June 24, 2015.

MOTOR VEHICLE & BICYCLE ACCIDENT
On May 16, 2015, Ramapo Police reported a motor vehicle vs. bicycle accident on Route 202 , west of the intersection with Camp Hill Road.  At approximately 5:10 p.m., a 52-year-old male was riding his bicycle westbound on Route 202 on the eastbound shoulder as a 46-year-old male, also a Pomona resident, was attempting to pull out of a private driveway on Route 202 when they collided with each other. The male bicyclist suffered injuries to his head and leg and was transported to Nyack Hospital by Spring Hill Ambulance. The accident is currently being investigated by the Town of Ramapo Accident Investigation Unit.

MENACING & CRIMINAL POSESSION OF A WEAPON

On May 13, 2015 at about 1 a.m., Ramapo Police responded to a dispute between tenants in Monsey and arrested a 23-year-old male who possessed a shotgun while confronting another person. The shotgun contained a breach-muzzle. Officers recovered the shotgun and removed other weapons for safekeeping. Charges include menacing in the second degree and criminal possession of a weapon in the fourth degree.

CLARKSTOWN POLICE DEPARTMENT:

LEAVING THE SCENE OF A PEDESTRIAN STRUCK ACCIDENT
On Saturday, May 9, 2015, a bicyclist was struck on Old Route 304 and Cypress Street in New City by a vehicle that had fled the scene. On Thursday, May 14, 2015, the bicyclist passed away. He is identified as Alfred Zaldivar, 47, from New City.
