West Haverstraw man charged in Stony Point burglary

Craig P Ferguson, 44, of 88 Benson St. in West Haverstraw was arrested this week and charged with burglary in the third degree, criminal trespass in the third degree, criminal possession of stolen property in the fifth degree, unlawful possession of marijuana and possession of burglary tools in connection with an alleged break-in at a Holt Drive warehouse.

Ferguson is accused of stealing copper pipe from the warehouse on Friday, March 27. Workers observed a suspect in the building carrying copper pipe when they arrived for work. The suspect fled on foot, dropping the pipe when they tried to approach him. The building walls and ceilings were damaged by the suspect, who had cut copper piping from the walls and ceilings after breaking into the building.

On Tuesday, March 31 Stony Point detectives were in the area when they observed a subject fitting thedescription trespassing on the CSX railroad tracks. After further investigation the above named defendant was taken into custody and charged with the above listed charges.

The defendant was arraigned in Stony Point Justice Court and was remanded to the Rockland County Jail on $1,000 bail. He is due back in Stony Point court on April 9, 2015 at 1:30 p.m.
