Fire at Victoria Mews in Nyack

NYACK- At about 9:30 a.m on Saturday, March 14 a small explosion could be heard in a local doctors office of the Victoria Mews Apartment Complex ground floor in downtown Nyack.

Dr. Handelman’s office, located on North Broadway was evacuated immediately after lights flickered and a loud boom reverberated through the office. Residents and offices were evacuated four blocks away according to the crowd. Police and fire response was immediate and fire engine blocked oncoming traffic from entering the area.

After building was cleared from further danger and the suspected electrical fire in back of building was quelled residents remained directly across the street at Runcible Spoon recounting the experience.

Fire inspector and other Nyack inspectors were called in on their day off to investigate. Fire inspector could not be reached for comment at this time.
