Man barricaded with gun at 67 N. Little Tor Road, police warn neighbors to stay away from windows

RELEASE AND STATEMENT FROM CLARKSTOWN PD

At approx. 7:15 p.m. this evening, a resident of 67 N. Little Tor Rd., New City, New York, responded to the Clarkstown Police Department reporting that she had been threatened by a fellow family member. According to the victim, she had had an argument with a male family member who had brandished a shotgun,  threatened to kill her and other family members as well as any police that may respond to the home intervene.  The victim attempted to wrest the gun away from the male party and then quickly exited the home, along with other family members and a tenant who lives in the same home.

Police personnel responded to the scene and established a perimeter around the residence. The male suspect has fired multiple shots from the residence with a rifle. It has been reported that at least one of the rifle rounds entered a neighboring home but no one was injured. Clarkstown Police crisis negotiators have been in communication with the male suspect and we are aiming for a quick, peaceful resolution of the situation.

At this point, traffic on Little Tor Road is closed northbound at New Hempstead Road and southbound at Phillips Hill Road. As this is a dynamic, dangerous situation, we respectfully request that prudence be exercised and that members of the media be sensitive to needs of law enforcement as well as their own safety. Periodic updates will be made. Additionally, we request that all neighbors remain in their residences and that they stay away from their windows.

Finally, a staging area for press inquires will be established at the Rockland County Office complex at 11 New Hempstead Road, in New City.
