VERAJA SAYS IT’S TIME TO BE STINGY WITH FIREWORKS

The Village of Nyack canceled their New Year’s Fireworks display due to the high cost. I applaud this financially responsible decision made by the village. In the past our tax dollars funded through the state and county contributed to the fireworks display. This was equal to burning our tax dollars. Those interested in fireworks displays need to fund it through private donations. Perhaps Nyack has started a trend in financially responsible government for 2015, if only the Rockland County Legislature will follow their lead for the new year.
