To the Editor,
Since 1877, The Fresh Air Fund, an independent, not-for-profit agency, has provided free summer vacations to more than 1.8 million New York City children from low-income neighborhoods. Through The Fund’s Friendly Town program, young New Yorkers, ages six to 18, experience the joy of summer during visits with volunteer host families who live in suburban and small town communities.
The Fund is looking to place more children with volunteer families in Rockland County next summer. A one week respite from the hot streets and crowded concrete playgrounds is a wonderful gift that you and your family can share with an inner-city child. Please consider how you can make a difference in the life of a child next summer by opening your heart and your home.
For more information on how you can become a host, or to become part of our volunteer team in your area, please visit the Fresh Air website at www.freshair.org or call The Fresh Air Fund at (800) 367-0003.
