Founded in 1933, the success of this original East Harlem institution now reaches such markets as Brooklyn, Murray Hill, Upper East Side, the Bronx, Manhattan, and many others. Fortunately for Rockland County residents, it is open and ready for patrons at the Shops of Nanuet.
The first Patsy’s Pizzeria was opened at 2287 1st Avenue, in East Harlem by Pasquale (Patsy) and Carmella Lancieri. It was the dream of this newlywed immigrant couple to serve the growing population of people who longed for the cuisine of their homeland in a casual family atmosphere. Patsy’s was soon established as an original of this “family style” model of the modern pizza restaurant.
Patsy’s Pizzeria offers a variety of fine Italian specialties but their coal-fired oven pizza is the customer favorite. What sets this pizza apart from the plethora of today’s pizza parlors is “freshness.” The Original Pizza and the Margarita Pizza are the two most popular for Patsy fans (pictured).
They do not have freezers on location, so nothing is ever frozen. Their food is brought in fresh daily from the city. The crust is thin with coal-fired flavor. Special sauce makes this pizza. The variety of fresh herbs and toppings are delightfully delicious.
With a true taste of the old country you will find many fresh pastas, soups, chicken and veal dishes, great salad selections, and fine Italian desserts. An unexpected surprise is their unbelievable espresso, which is brewed with seven special coffee beans for an incredibly smooth flavor.
The classy and sophisticated atmosphere is not your typical pizzeria. High ceilings and cozy tables in a contemporary setting, with black and white photographs surrounding the premise make for interesting conversations that have made Patsy’s Pizzeria famous. Many celebrities, politicians and sports personalities have frequented Patsy’s Pizzeria for the food, the eclectic flavor, and the fun.
A full service bar will be providing special happy hour events throughout the week. Check their website or social media to discover the latest cocktail specialties.
