Search underway in Haverstraw for armed robbers

HAVERSTRAW – Two gunmen made off with an unidentified amount of cash after a robbery outside the Chase Bank on Route 9W in Haverstraw this morning, according to Haverstraw Police.

According to police, the robbers approached the victim with a weapon at around 8 a.m. and held her at gunpoint while they wrested a bag of cash from her. After they stole the money, they escaped into a wooded area behind the Haverstraw Midas.

Police have since interviewed the victim and begun a search for the two suspects, canvassing the area around Route 9W with foot patrols and K9 units. The dogs were able to track the scent of the suspects to an empty MacDonald’s bag, but lost the trail at the Bricktown Square Building. Rockland County’s emergency helicopter has also been involved in the search.

The two suspects have been described as black men in black shorts and hoodies. Anybody with information on the case can call Haverstraw Police at (845) 354-1500.
