O&R: PART OF MONTEBELLO ROAD CLOSED MONDAY FOR PAVING

PRESS RELEASE

O&R is planning to close about 700 feet of Montebello Road on Monday, Oct. 13 in order to complete curb-to-curb repaving of that section of the street that was excavated in August as part of a $2.4 million O&R project designed to make the area’s electric service more reliable.

This project will improve electric service to O&R residential and commercial customers in Montebello, Ramapo, Suffern, Wesley Hills and Airmont.

O&R chose Monday to complete the work because it’s the Columbus Day holiday and vehicular and pedestrian traffic on the busy street will be diminished. The portion of the road to be closed is east of River Rd. and west of Hemion Rd. The work is scheduled to take place between 7 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. and is expected to be completed in one day.

Motorists can expect delays during the morning rush hour Oct. 13 if they are traveling:

· East from Ramapo Cirque Blvd., Dakota Ct., Erie Ct., Windmere Bk. Lane, Pawnee Ct., Lenape Ct. and Kensico Ct.
· West from Montebello Rd.
· North on Hemion Rd.

This project is part of an ongoing storm hardening program that was started last year to reduce electric outages. One of the major components of that plan is to reduce outages by undergrounding select circuits at strategic locations where multiple overhead circuits now are mounted on distribution poles.
