St. PRESS RELEASE

Zita’s Villa, for mature women, will hold an open house and gala family fun day on Saturday, September 13, from 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. Co-sponsored by Catholic Daughters Court John Paul II 2554 the festivities will include a fall bazaar, Chinese auction and bake sale, plus games and fun-filled activities for the entire family. The Knights of Columbus from Suffern will host an old fashion barbeque. In addition to all the special activities, the Open House provides an opportunity for prospective residents and their families to visit and experience the spirit of St Zitas.

For more than a century, St. Zita’s has provided caring assistance to mature women who have difficulty living on their own but do not require a skilled nursing home. It also offers an affordable alternative to assisted living. It was originally founded by Mother Mary Zita, a nurse and Catholic nun whose religious name honors St. Zita, the 13th Century saint and Patroness of Domestic Servants. After immigrating to the United States from Ireland in 1864, Mother Mary Zita dedicated her life to providing shelter for women in need of help for reasons ranging from financial problems to physical infirmities.

Today, St. Zita’s is operated by the Roman Catholic Sisters of the Reparation of the Congregation of Mary. Located in Monsey, NY on estate like grounds, St. Zitas provides a nurturing home environment for approximately 35 women who no not require skilled nursing care but do need some assistance with activities of daily living. The home offers single rooms, three home-cooked meals, assisted bathing and medication and has a nurse on the premises 24/7. Daily Mass is also offered for those who wish to attend. Although the home is run by Roman Catholic nuns, it is open to all mature women, regardless of religious affiliation.

In case of heavy rain, St. Zita’s Open House & Family Fun Day will be held on Sunday, September 14 (same times). St. Zita’s is located at 50 Saddle River Rd, Monsey, NY. For information, contact Sr. Maureen (845) 356-2011.
