Sheriff Announces Tele-visitation at County Jail

New City, NY – Sheriff Louis Falco III announced this week that the Sheriff’s Office has implemented a Televistation system at the Rockland County Correctional Facility that allows inmates to receive mental health evaluations from the County Department of Mental Health, consult with their attorneys at the County Public Defender’s Office or complete an interview with the Probation Department.

The system allows the Sheriff’s Office to reduce the number of times inmates are required to be moved out of the Correctional Facility and reduces the movement of inmates from their housing units to other areas of the building. This initiative has led to an improvement in safety within both the community and the facility. The cost of the system was paid for without cost to the county taxpayers through the use of asset forfeiture money.

“This Televisitation system is an example of collaboration between the Sheriff’s Office and the other county agencies to use technology to improve both efficiency and safety at no additional cost to our residents,” said Sheriff Louis Falco.
