HATS OFF TO ROCKLAND COUNTY’S NEWEST EAGLE SCOUTS!

Eagle6.28.14Noah Bressner and Matthew Fascaldi of Boy Scouts of America Troop #97 in New City were recognized this week for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, a distinction earned by only 4 percent of all Boy Scouts nationwide. County Executive Day presented Noah and Matthew with Awards of Excellence on behalf of the County during a weekend Court of Honor ceremony in Rader Hall at St. Francis of Assisi Church in West Nyack. Noah’s Eagle Leadership Service Project included building a hoop house at Cropsey Community Farm. A hoop house is a type of greenhouse which allows for longer growing seasons and the growth of starter and delicate plantings that cannot be grown outdoors. Matthew’s Eagle Scout Project involved the construction of three raised garden beds at the Catholic Community Services community garden. The community garden is enabling local residents with varied abilities to contribute to the garden, which feeds individuals who don’t have the financial means to “buy locally.”
