NEW CITY ROTARY AWARDS SCHOLARSHIPS TO OUTSTANDING GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS

On Monday, June 23, 2014, six graduating seniors received awards of $1,000 each for superior academic achievement and community service. Rotarian and award chairperson Bart Silverman made presentations to Samantha Fuller, Clarkstown North ; Crystal Godfrey, Clarkstown North; Mitchell Abrams, Clarkstown North; Molly Ludlow, Clarkstown North; Lauren Ni-Buachalla, Clarkstown North and Jaclyn Connell, Clarkstown South (not present).

According to Wikipedia, Rotary International is an international service organization whose stated purpose is to bring together business and professional leaders in order to provide humanitarian services and help build goodwill and peace in the world. With the motto ‘Service above Self’, the New City Rotary chapter recently donated Shelter Boxes to Syria, the Philippines and India. These boxes are packed with items that provide disaster victims with emergency shelter and living supplies.
