Man arrested for Chili’s restaurant burglary in Nanuet

John Allen, 50, of Spring Valley, was arrested for burglary after police received a call from a Chili’s Restaurant in Nanuet, Friday, June 20 at 12:40 p.m.

A 29-year-old male employee from New City told police he observed a man in the corner of a storage closet located in the rear of the restaurant. When the suspect saw the employee, he ran from the closet, knocking the employee to the ground, causing a minor injury to the employee, which did not require medical attention.

Allen was followed by other employees and was arrested by responding police units just a short distance away from the restaurant. Allen was in possession of a glass pipe containing crack cocaine residue when he was searched.

He was charged with burglary in the second degree (felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the seventh degree  (misdemeanor). Allen was arraigned on June 21, 2014 in Clarkstown Justice Court. Bail was set at $5, 000 and he was transported to Rockland County Jail. He will return to court on June 25, 2014 at 1:30 p.m.
