WELL PLAYED! A 21-YEAR-OLD ROCKLANDER INKS TEXT BOOK DEAL WITH NAT’L PUBLISHING CO.

photoCengage Learning, a leading educational content, software and services company for the K–12 and higher education, has attained the rights to “The Guide to Surviving General Chemistry,” a text book written by dentist and Baltimore resident, Michael Rosen. At the very young age of 21, Michael Rosen self-published a chemistry text book with the goal to help chemistry students nationwide understand a complicated topic.

“What better way to help your peers avoid the same hardship of going through a difficult science college course than to write a book as a student for your fellow students? After witnessing first-hand how difficult some college courses can be, especially those that are required for you to progress in your major, I set out to put a stop to the frustration associated with general chemistry,” said Michael Rosen writer of “The Guide to Surviving General Chemistry.”

With over 6,000 books sold nationwide, Cengage Learning saw an opportunity in this simplified chemistry text book. Written for the students, by a student, the appeal of “The Guide to Surviving General Chemistry” is that it tell students exactly what they need to know while avoiding complicated vocabulary for the general chemistry class.

“At Cengage Learning we are developing products that elevate thinking and engage students. These products include new digital learning solutions that directly help students achieve better course outcomes. Through our partnership with Michael Rosen and The Guide to Surviving Chemistry we are able to offer learning resources through direct-to-student opportunities that provide help for students when they need it most,” said Maureen Rosener, Senior Product Manager for Chemistry at Cengage Learning.
