ROCKLAND’S YOUTH BUREAU TO OFFER FREE POSITIVE YOUTH DEVELOPMENT TRAINING

NEW CITY, NY  —  Help build tomorrow’s leaders!  The Rockland County Youth Bureau will offer free training for frontline youth workers, supervisors and others who work directly with young people.

The four-hour interactive training entitled “Effective Youth Development Programming” will introduce participants to the principles and best-practices of Positive Youth Development.  PYD is a policy perspective that emphasizes providing services and opportunities to support all young people in developing a sense of a competence, usefulness, belonging and empowerment.
Participants in the training will learn methods that facilitate positive youth development for young people inside and outside of school. Special attention will be paid to strategies that nurture positive outcomes in summer and other extracurricular programs.
While individual programs can provide youth development activities, the PYD approach works to involve entire communities in creating a continuum of services and opportunities that help youngsters grow into happy and healthy adults.
